On-line databases
From 1 October 2005 your church will be able to search the nationally recognised on-line Grantfinder database provided free of charge by Church House Oxford.
Grantnet
- The portal enables your church group to interrogate an online database of charitable trusts, organizations, and other funding initiatives such as regional, national and European funding programmes.
- Whether your fundraising project focuses on a restoration or re-ordering project, funding a youth worker or developing an outreach programme in your community, by identifying answering a small number of key questions Grantfinder will then produce a summary report identifying any potential sources that ‘match’ your project.
What happens to my funding search on Grantnet?
- When you have completed your Grantnet search you will receive details of all the funding schemes that match your search criteria.
- The report will contain your search criteria, search results and contact details.
- A Grantnet enquiry report will also be sent to the Diocesan Christian Giving and Funding Adviser to help him provide more effective advice.
Where does the information in the database come from?
- All the Grantfinder information is gathered from primary public sources by experienced Grantfinder researchers.
- The information is constantly updated; up to 20% of schemes may change in one month and new schemes are constantly being introduced

Who can access Grantnet?
- Anyone designated by your church can access Grantnet.
- All you need to do is register your details and log in using the password which Grantfinder will e-mail to you.
- The information contained in the Grantfinder database is relevant to many different types of project.
- Results can also be tailored to your chosen geographical area.
Why does the Diocese of Oxford recommend the Grantnet portal?
- Since June 2004 Diocesan Church House support for parishes and deaneries has included the Diocesan Christian Giving and Funding Adviser. As well as offering advice on how to plan and implement a fundraising campaign for your church, the adviser also offers guidance on potential sources of funding.
- As an aspect of Sharing Life, the Adviser shares funding information from churches that have been successful with those just starting our or renewing their fundraising activities.
- Through many years operating in the funding sector, Grantfinder recognises that organisations seeking funding are much more likely to be successful when applying for grants, if they receive support from people who are experienced in the grant application process such as the Christian Giving and Funding Adviser.
- Grantnet will enable him to tailor his advice to the needs of individual churches.
Who will have access to my personal details?
- Your contact details and search criteria will be made available to the Christian Giving and Funding Adviser at Church House.
- They will not be made available to any third parties or used to target you with unsolicited e-mails or advertisements.
