What is 'Cutting Edge Ministries'

'Cutting Edge Ministries' is a specific initiative, set up by the Diocese in 2002, to encourage and support new forms of emerging church. The aim was to have eight 'emerging'churches by 2010 which would be self-sustaining in their life, finance and ministry and which would act as an inspiration to others. By the end of 2004 five new ministries were already receiving support from Cutting Edge Ministries.

Since Cutting Edge Ministries was launched by the Diocese much has changed both nationally and locally. We continually seek to offer support where we are able to and to share learning and experience with others.

'Cutting Edge Ministries' offers:

• a framework of support and accountability
• a process of accompanying and review
• support in securing financial stability

Background

The initiative developed in response to the Sharing Life initiative and committed the Diocese to a policy of encouraging and supporting new forms of emerging church. Funding from the Church Commissioners for mission enabled a the first few initiatives to be supported financially as well as in other ways. The learning from these 'pilots'is being gathered and shared to encouarge others to assess what may be appropriate in their situation.
