Making Disciples
This is about the core task left to us by Jesus. It usually takes the form of accompanying people on a journey to faith by the intentional use of nurture courses, mentoring, the catechumenate (an ancient approach to accompanied journeying), or simple friendship.
On this page we will highlight stories from around the diocese that illustrate this aspect of Living Faith. If you would like us to feature an event or initiative your parish if running do let us know.
PENTECOST COURSES
Did you know that the word epiousios in the Lord’s Prayer, which we often translate ‘daily’ only appears twice in the whole of the Greek language, and that’s in Matthew’s and Luke’s Gospels? Or that early Christians interpreted ‘your kingdom come’ differently when they used the Lord’s Prayer? There was a debate over whether Jesus was referring to something earthly and imminent, or eternal and more transcendent.
These are some of the themes included in five discipleship courses devised by The Revd Teresa Morgan from St Mary and Nicholas, Littlemore, Oxford. The courses will be available to download below...
