Since opening our Godly Play Classroom in Abingon in 2004 hundreds of children and adults have experienced Godly Play many adults have been inspired to go back to their church or school resolved to 'try it out'with children. A piece of feedback that has come back time and time again has been that the investment in resources needed by schools or churches just isn't possible for already overstretched budgets so sadly, Godly Play has had to take a back seat.

Part of my desire as Children's Adviser has been to make Godly Play much more accessible to children and adults so I'm absolutely delighted that we've been able to invest heavily and update and extend Godly Play facilities and resources throughout the DIocese culminating in September 2009 when the Oxford Diocese Library of Godly Play Story Materials was launched.

Upholding the ethos and methodology of Godly Play is very important to us so the membership requirement is that members have recieved a basic training by attending a 'Godly Play Introductory Day', School staff INSET or similar Godly Play course.

Benefits of Library Membership;

Membership entitles you to freely access and borrow materials for use in the telling of Godly Play stories. We are proud to be able to offer an extensive range of stories from the Jerome Berryman 'The Complete Guide to Godly Play'Volumes 2, 3, 4 and 6.

From time to time members will be offered training or special events at a reduced fee.

The normal borrowing time will be four calendar weeks - giving plenty of time to learn, practise and deliver stories. Extended times may be negotiable. Occassionally a shorter lending period may be required during specific busy seasons.

Materials will normally be collected from and returned to Diocesan Church House in Oxford.

See the 'Membership Information Pack'for full terms and conditions.

Costs;

The annual fee is £50 per year.

Lose it, Bend it, or Break it - YOU REPLACE IT!

Message from Jerome Berryman
Congratulations to Yvonne Morris and the Diocese of Oxford on the opening of the Godly Play Resource Library! The work begun by Jenny Hyson and others in the Diocese continues to create something beautiful for God and the children of the Diocese.
Please know how excited and happy I am to know about this contribution to the means for expanding the understanding and practice of Godly Play in England. Your “work” --- which is, of course serious play --- also contributes to Godly Play all over the world and I thank you for that as well. I deeply appreciate Mary Hawes letting me know about this so I could join you in spirit today to enjoy what has been accomplished.
Blessings on you all, during this wonderful celebration. May your lives be full of graceful laughter as you go forward, playing hide-and-seek with God, to create a more meaningful church.

Please read the conditions of membership carefully and sign the agreement on the Membership Application Form.

Each member is responsible for the material and its correct usage within the ethos and methodology of Godly Play.

All members must have attended an ‘Introduction to Godly Play course’, school staff INSET or be an accredited Godly Play Teacher. Details of training courses and events at Oxford Diocese Godly Play Centre’s are included in this pack.

While Godly Play has been pioneered as a methodology for work amongst children, we fully acknowledge that its usage is much wider and not exclusive to children’s ministry. Ministers using Godly Play in settings other than children’s ministry are equally invited to join the library and benefit from access to materials.

Additional Members
Where parishes, schools or organisations have more than one storyteller who would benefit from access to library materials, that person can join the library as an ‘additional member’ at a cost of £15 per person.

A separate membership form is required for each member and additional member. Membership forms are available on request or can be downloadedhere.
