We’ve missed you!

Listen to my reflections in the podcast (20mins)

At the beginning of September I asked people in the Thames Valley to tell me why they no longer go to church, and whether there is anything that would make them come back again.

I’d like to thank everyone who generously shared their experiences. You can find out more about what I learned by downloading the podcast.

All of these stories were moving, and some were sad. I promised that anything people told me would be kept confidential – and that is exactly what will happen. But if you were hurt by an encounter with the Church in the past and would like to talk to us, can I encourage you to contact us again and we’ll do our best to put you in touch with someone who can help?

To get in touch, please contact my chaplain, the Revd Amanda Bloor. You can email her or write to: Diocesan Church House, North Hinksey Lane, Oxford OX2 0NB.

Many churches in Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire will be taking part in ‘Back to Church Sunday’ on 30 September, when people will be inviting friends and neighbours to join them at Sunday worship.

It may be that someone will invite you along. But please remember you are always welcome in church, any time. It’s an open invitation.

Rt Revd John Pritchard
